If you are new to making cabiet doors, there are a few things to consider: Most important is the question on what kind of panel you will be using. If you are producing raised panels yourself, then any stile and rail system will work for you. If you consider making shaker doors by using pre-fabricated plywoods, we strongly recommend you first check with your supplier for the plywood you consider. While there are plywoods in many wood species with a wood core that are 1/4” thick, these plywoods usually use a low grade quality wood on the back side and are not ideal for door making. Proper plywoods for door making usually come with an MDF core and use the same wood species on both sides. Most of these plywoods come in a metric thickness (most common is 5.25mm) and if you prefer to use pre-fabricated shaper heads or router bits, you need to be aware that most of them come exclusively for 1/4” thick materials. In other words, if you wish to use metric sized plywoods, then our Titan and Byrd Insert Cutter Heads for shapers are your best choice as you can get these for any panel thickness.
